HVAC Holiday Guest Comfort
It’s the holiday season and regardless of which traditions you practice, family visits are usually inevitable. While HVAC systems don’t normally run into issues because of extra people in the home, an HVAC system may be a cause of discomfort for visitors who aren’t used to your home environment. We’ve given a few tips here to help you get your home HVAC holiday guest comfort perfectly set up for any guests who may come calling this holiday season.
- Make Plenty of Room
- Not only do you want your guests to be comfortable, but it can also be important to make sure there is plenty of room for the extra belongings they will bring with them. Items like luggage and packages can become hazardous to your HVAC system if they are left somewhere that blocks the flow of air from an air return in the floor. A good rule of thumb is to ask guests to leave their belongings at least three feet away from any vents or returns in their room.
- Clean away dust & debris
- Before your guests arrive, it is a good idea to do a dust and debris inspection of your HVAC components:
- Dust and clean your guest’s room, from the ceiling fan to the floor vents (if present).
- Check that your furnace components are free of dust.
- Check and consider changing air filters to ensure a free flow of clean, dust-free air throughout the home.
- Before your guests arrive, it is a good idea to do a dust and debris inspection of your HVAC components:
- REME Halo Lights
- If your guests have any allergies, asthma, or any other breathing issues, it may be a good idea to have a REME Halo Light installed in your system. These wonders of technology eliminate up to 99% of germs and dust particles, and can be installed in one quick, easy appointment!
- Seal Air Leaks in Guest Room
- Lastly, consider sealing any air leaks that may exist in your guests’ sleeping quarters. Cracks or holes around windows can create a draft, and also cost you big time in energy costs. While you’re at it, you might also inspect your exterior doors for cracks or holes to make sure the seal around the door is airtight.
